You love what you do. And you are good at it. But your neglected website is getting in the way! Let’s see how we can make it work for you … does it feel dull and old and dormant?
Is it responsive?
I don’t mean, “did it call you back the day after the first date?” kind of responsive. We’re talking about the “does it work on all kinds of devices in a happy way?” responsive. These days, depending on your type of site, you could have 40-60% of your traffic on a mobile device. Google also punishes non-mobile ready sites by pushing them down in searches. Does everything work properly? Is it legible? Does the user find what they are looking for?
Does it have SSL?
I’m not talking about “Short Stirrup Leathers” or “Super Sonic Leadchange”. This is a Secure Sockets Layer and it’s now required to play the Google game. Which basically makes the world go round when it comes to the internet. I get it. You’d rather talk about the protein in your horse’s feed or the logistics of getting down a combination line in the correct steps. But this is like putting a bridle on with no reins — It’s pretty darn important. SSL secures sensitive information on your site and the rest of the internet sites you visit. It’s a really important key to site building. When you visit a site, you know it has SSL because it has the HTTPS in front of the URL. If you don’t have it, you may as well not bother having a website.
Does the content make an impression on the people you want it to?
Your website should attract and connect to the people you most want to do business with. What sort of message does it send? Does it create a desire for the correct people to do business with you? Does it get traffic? Does it inspire the users to take your call to action? Is it believable? Make a great impression?
Below is a fun before and after of a wealth management firm website I redesigned in 2018. They needed a very robust and complex layout to satisfy and host lots of content: TV appearances, radio show and podcast, educational workshops and educational learning articles. It was very important for the firm to broaden their business direction and attract the right clients.
